The History Of Paulina, Oregon 

Paulina was founded in 1870, the Post Office was
established in 1880 by John T Faulkner who served
for 25 years.  Fred Moisier built a clubhouse &
saloon in 1906.  Lee Miller built the first store in
1905, it burned in 1929.  Elmer Clark built the
first hotel in 1906. May Miller was Postmaster
from 1915 for 28 years, she married Lyle Miller
and ran the store from 1918 until they sold it in
1949.  Paulina at one time had two active saw
mills, The Paulina store that is standing now was
built in 1917.  It now houses the Post Office as
well as the community bar.  Inside the store are
many unique items like the first Elk shoot after
they transplanted them in 1959, it still has the
Government seal.  The original water pump sits
up on the shelf in the store, it was the community
well and everyone would come and haul water
from it.
